Bring things together that have not yet been brought together and did not seem predisposed to be so.
- Robert Bresson
STATEMENT
I'VE ALWAYS BEEN DRAWN TO TELLING VISUAL STORIES WITH THE USE OF COLLAGE, AND MIXED MEDIA. MY PROCESS CONSISTS OF COMBINING AND ASSEMBLING MULTIPLE DISCIPLINES AND MEDIUMS WITHIN THE SAME PIECE WHILE PLAYING WITH THE RELATIONSHIP BETWEEN 2 AND 3 DIMENSION. MY MATERIALS INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO: OIL, ACRYLIC, PHOTO TRANSFER, POLYMER RESIN, FABRIC, PAPER, WOOD & FOUND OBJECTS.
THESE IMAGES ARE IMAGINED STORIES WHICH ARE BASED UPON NARRATIVES THAT I HAVE CREATED USING RELIGIOUS, MYTHIC & HISTORICAL ICONS, AS WELL AS OTHER FOUND AND SELF ASSEMBLED CHARACTERS & OBJECTS. MY INSPIRATION COMES FROM SEVERAL SOURCES; SOMETIMES FROM A POTENTIAL TITLE, SOMETIMES FROM A COLLAGE PATTERN THAT I HAVE CREATED AND AT OTHER TIMES FROM A FOUND OBJECT OR A HYBRID OBJECT I HAVE ASSEMBLED. MY GOAL IS TO CREATE PIECES THAT FEEL SEAMLESS WHILE COMBINING SEVERAL MEDIUMS.
